Dinner With an Author Weekend: Featured Dr. Elton Lehman
May 7-9, 2010 - Mother's Day Weekend
Check-in on Friday and have dinner on your own. Saturday will be free
to explore olmes County Amish County, pick up some cheese, bakery
items, etc. Saturday evening we'll have dinner in a private Amish home
with renowned author, Dr. Elton Lehman who wrote 'House Calls &
Hitching Posts'. After dinner we'll retreat to the B&B where Dr.
Lehman will share his experiences in the field of medicine while
doctoring to the old order Amish, some stories from his book, and some
of the stories that were edited from the book.
 THE BOOK
Medical technology meets the rural values of simplicity, home health
remedies, and unwavering faith in divine providence when a
country-boy-turned-country-doctor returns to his roots. House Calls and
Hitching Posts is a sometimes humorous and often intimate accounts of
Dr. Elton Lehman's 36 years of practicing medicine among the Amish of
Wayne, Holmes, and surrounding counties in Ohio, for which he was named
Country Doctor of the Year.
Now you can witness house calls and private moments between doctors and
patients. Joe brings his dismembered fingers to the office in a coffee
can filled with kerosene. Katie delivers a boy for the doctor's first
home-birth. And three-year-old Davy rallies to overcome a
life-threatening illness at birth only to be crushed under a tractor
wheel. Here are the joys and dilemmas of a family practitioner among a
rural and predominantly-Amish community. Have a leisurely breakfast
before checking out on Sunday.

Moonlight Serenade with Bud Preston
Fathers Day Weekend
June 18-20, 2010
This Father's Day weekend Garden Gate Get-A-Way B&B presents a
night of music by moonlight and a picnic in our gardens! Check-in on
Friday and unwind at our evening campfire. Saturday evening from 7-9
p.m. Bud Preston will appear in our gardens to play his intoxicating
acoustic guitar sounds. Bud has been playing publicly for several
years and was nominated for a Grammy in 2007. He combines classical
& rock music, has written a series of songs about the Erie Canal,
and plays both original and well-known music. Garden Gate Get-A-Way
will provide each couple with a picnic consisting of a sandwiches,
salad, fruit, dessert and a bottle of wine or sparkling juice to enjoy
while Bud Preston is performing. Have a leisurely breakfast on Sunday
before checking out.
